We started Wild Roaming in 2021, after we made the decision to finally follow our dream of having a Camper for exploring NZ. Having realised that a regular motorhome was never going to get us to the places we wanted to go, we started researching alternative options.
That is where we came across the Alu-Cab brand from Cape Town, South Africa and their range of products, and realised we had stumbled across the ideal solution to our dreams. In doing so we also realised the opportunity was there to help other kiwis do the same, by providing the necessary backup and support for these unique products, and to assist them in realising their own dreams.
We opted for the Landcruiser 78 series (or LT Wagon as it is known by Toyota in NZ) as the vehicle of choice, and were fortunate enough to still be able to purchase a new vehicle, which arrived in October 2021.
Denzel as he has become known, has already become a family favourite, especially now he has been converted with an Alu-Cab Hercules rooftop conversion, and several 4×4 accessories, to help us get to where we want to go.
Having the roof cut out of a new vehicle is a nerve-wracking experience, so it is essential to ensure that the right people carry out the conversion. We now have a range of fitters across NZ who we are happy to recommend to you, and can assist in arranging this for you. See below for some video/pics of our conversion.
We’re here to guide you through the process of not just purchase, but fitting, certification (where required) and also advise as to what products may be best for you.
So whether it’s a full roof conversion for your Landcruiser or Defender, a Canopy/Khaya/Cabin Camper for your ute, or just a simple awning or roof tent, then always remember that;
